Indigenous Igbo rapper, Chibuzor Azubuike, who is otherwise known as Phyno, has denied a report where he was quoted to have said that he won’t cut his dreads for any amount, describing the report as false. The rapper said he never granted any interview with anybody let alone made such statement.
In an exclusive chat with R during the week, Phyno who released his debut album few weeks ago said he had been busy with different engagements in and outside of the country, saying “whoever wrote that story that I won’t cut my braids for any amount never spoke to me or any member of my management, not that I can remember”.
A report had emerged on social media platforms that Phyno was approached and asked how much it would cost him to cut his dreads, but the Enugu-born producer was quoted to have said “I won’t cut off my dreads for any amount”.
Having produced for the likes of Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, 2hortz, Bracket, J Martins and Mr Raw, Phyno had started building his name in the music industry since then and in 2007, the rapper moved to Lagos so as to make his impact felt.
Phyno whose debut album, ‘No Guts, No Glory’ is already enjoying massive airplay across the country is one of the artistes perfoming around the country in the ongoing Star Trek musical jamz.
“I have been busy working around the country and I am happy with the dimension my career is going. A lot of people come up with different false reports everyday, especially these bloggers who go about spreading unverified news about artistes they know little or nothing about. I didn’t speak to anybody about the said story and I wish whoever is spreading the news could stop doing such”, he said.
