The Flying Eagles of Nigeria took a big step towards qualifying for the Africa Youth Championships as they trounced Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Stars 2-0 in Dar Es Salaam on Sunday.
Musa Yahaya shot the young Eagles ahead four minutes into the second half via a simple tap in after both sides had ended it goalless in the first half.
And Taiwo Awoniyi made it two with eight minutes left to play.
Nigeria had related the best chance early on, but could not take it as Muazam fired wide with only the goalkeeper to beat midway into the first half.
The Flying Eagles were kitted in the new all-green kits, but had to use a makeshift dressing room.
The Nigerian side, made up largely of the boys that triumphed at the last FIFA U-7 Championship in the UAE, had to contend with some large lads in the Ngorongoro line up.
Tanzania were the more on the attack whenever they had the ball, but the Flying Eagles enjoyed more of the ball.
